In Due Season

The Director’s Notebook

All of our plays come in a hard cover 3-ring binder (for convenience and durability). For the one low price of the Director’s Notebook, you receive the script, music (where applicable), costuming and staging helps including the set design, a section of organizational helps for the director, a resource directory, and advertising materials. All of these are REPRODUCIBLE making them affordable for any size church, school, or home schooling group.

Full of spiritual lessons and unforgetable characters, “In Due Season,” set in colonial Williamsburg, during the American Revolution, is the moving story of five individuals fighting their own personal “wars.”

Plot Summary

It is difficult to give an actual plot summary of “In Due Season.” There are intertwining plots and subplots within the framework of the five main characters.

Mr. Richardson - an embittered man with a crippling disease. Although a good man, he is unsaved and dies near the end of the play without the Lord.

Bradley Richardson - Mr. Richardson’s proud arrogant son.  He is the antagonist throughout the play, but, through a surprise twist in the plot, is later saved. The audience can clearly see the difference Christ makes in a life.

Rebekah Richardson - Mr. Richardson’s blind daughter.  She is very bitter at the opening of the story, but comes to Christ through the testimony of Elizabeth and John and an itinerant preacher.

Elizabeth Farrington - an English orphan girl who is hired by the Richardsons to be a caretaker for Rebekah and housekeeper/cook.  She is a Christian and, though she struggles with “keeping on keeping on” she learns that God rewards those who perservere.

John - an indentured servant who is mistreated by Bradley.  He is also a Christian, though he has a background of being a theif.
